Frequently Asked Questions
1) How old are the wagons in the Wascosa fleet?
As a whole, our fleet is very young and modern. The average age of our wagons is 13 years. This means there are hardly any cases of wagons being out of service over an extended period of time. Thanks to our dynamic fleet strategy, we can also react flexibly to new requirements and tailor our intermodal wagon solutions precisely to the needs of our customers.
2) Do Wascosa's intermodal wagons have 'ss' (very high speed) category approval?
That depends on the type of wagon. However, the majority of our wagons operate in what is known as the ‘ss’ speed category. Among other things, this means:
- Higher speeds and therefore shorter transport times
- Greater efficiency, especially in combined transport
3) What brake blocks does Wascosa use on its intermodal wagons?
Most of our freight wagons are fitted with composite brake blocks (Composite Brakes / K-blocks). These offer several advantages:
- Significant reduction of rolling and braking noise
- Smoother wheel surfaces and, consequently, a longer wheel service life
- Lower fire risk along the track
- Fewer fine dust emissions
4) What is the maximum payload for Wascosa intermodal wagons?
The maximum payload varies depending on the wagon type. You can find the details in the respective loading diagram or technical data sheet, which is available for each wagon on our website in the wagon fleet section. We are happy to help you if needed.
5) How many container spigots (pins) do our wagons have and how are they arranged?
The number and position of the container spigots depend on both the wagon type and the specific project or configuration. The corresponding loading diagrams ensure that each wagon variant offered is optimally suited to your transport needs. Find more information in our wagon fleet section.
